Blogger Dreams DO Come True

Mia & I at lunch!
This past Saturday, dreams came true. Let me start with...back in January, my blogger bff, Mia [yes, I talk about her allll the time, she's that awesome], from The Chronicles of Chaos contacted me and some other Northern Virginia bloggers about a meet up asking if any of us were interested. She later came back to confirm and date, time, and place and this momentous event happened this past Saturday, February 2nd, 2013.

She's real!
I had been contemplating whether or not to go. Of course I wanted to meet Mia, but I had no idea who any of the other ladies were really and I was, well, nervous! I mean, I've only talked to this silly lady over the interweb and the rest was like a blind date [although I was able to stalk the others blogs...not creepy. ;)]. After talking to Jason about it a couple nights before, he encouraged me to go, so I messaged the girls telling them I'd be there! At that point, I was anxious and excited!

Saturday morning rolled around, I got myself showered and prettied up. Then headed out to Woodbridge, which was the center point for most of us. We met up at P.F. Chang's for lunch. When I first got there, I walked in and saw Mia immediately. We made eye contact, said hello and gave each other a great big hug! ...And then I had to pee.

When I came out, she was at the table with three other ladies. We talked for a bit before three more walked in! Sarah was our last one to arrive and conversation continued on, through lunch, lots of laughs, and everything felt so natural to me! I was surprised at how comfortable things were. I seriously thought I'd just sit there and  be quiet and listen to everyone else talk, but I was glad that my voice came out and got a chance to talk!

Yes, my blogging dream of meeting my bff came true on Saturday. Along with getting to meet some other incredible bloggers right here in my area! It was interesting to hear about other people who went to the same college at me [at different points], as well as why everyone blogged, who was married with kids, etc. I really hope we can all get together again sometime! I'm so glad Jason convinced me to go. It was something new and I got the chance to meet some amazing people!

For anyone considering going to a blogger meet up...do it! Why?
  • You get to meet new people.
  • [And maybe even your silly/weird/awkward new best friend?!]
  • You all share a common interest, why not see what else you have in common?
  • It's a fun way to get out of the house & be social!
  • It's a lot more comfortable and easy-going than you'd think. [At least for me.]
  • What have you got to lose by going?
Whether you have a "big" blog or a "little" blog, put yourself out there and do something you haven't done before. There is no judgement and it's just fun to talk with new people and make some awesome new friends. I hope everyone else who went this past weekend had just as much fun!

Unfortunately, the pictures I took on my camera weren't incredibly flattering, so enjoy a few from Melanie!
